Weight loss detox diets are increasingly popular, with various commercially available 2 day detox drinks or 2 day juice trend drinks and plans for weight loss such as Arden’s Garden Detox or the “Arden Detox 2 day cleanse plan.”

But, is it possible to do a 2 day detox diet plan or 2 day juice cleanse for weight loss that actually works? What is the best 2 day cleanse diet for weight loss? Does the Arden Garden Detox for weight loss work?

In this 2 day detox diet plan guide, we will discuss whether a 2 day detox is possible, how to do a 2 day juice trend cleanse, the problems with 2 day detox diets, and the best way to make juice cleanse detox drinks.

We will look at:

  • Does the Arden’s Garden 2 Day Detox Cleanse Work?
  • Does a 2 Day Juice Cleanse for Weight Loss Work?
  • What Is the Best 2 Day Cleanse Diet for Weight Loss?

Let’s get started!

Does the Arden’s Garden 2 Day Detox Cleanse Work?

The Arden’s Garden Detox Cleanse is a popular 2 day juice cleanse program that involves drinking 16 juices over the course of 2 days.

The juices are made from distilled water, grapefruit juice, orange juice, and lemons, so they are citrus-forward in flavor and taste like watered-down grapefruit juice.

According to the Arden Garden’s detox website, the Arden Garden 2 day juice cleanse is intended to:

“Cleanse, detoxify, and rejuvenate your body” by flooding it with “vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and other phytonutrients to lose weight, detoxify your body, improve your immune system, and boost your energy.”

The grapefruit juice is said to help remove impurities from the blood, aid digestion, and water excretion to reduce bloating while helping metabolize fat and providing cancer-fighting phytochemicals.

The orange juice provides vitamin C, while the lemon juice has natural diuretic properties and is reported to help you eliminate mucus from your body, according to the manufacturer of this particular 2 day juice cleanse diet program.

This particular Arden‘s Garden 2 day detox juice cleanse is intended to consist only of the eight juices per day with as much additional distilled water as you want to drink.

However, no food is permitted. Even so, user reviews and testimonials suggest that they did eat some real food because the juices were not filling enough.

So, does the Arden’s Garden 2 day detox juice cleanse work for weight loss?

If you look at the Arden‘s Garden juice cleanse nutrition facts, each bottle of juice has 66 cal, 12 g of carbohydrates, 10 g of sugar, zero fiber, 0 g of fat, 1 g of proteins, a small percentage of certain vitamins, and 122% of your daily vitamin C.

Because this 2 day diet cleanse involves drinking only eight of these juices per day and no other food, the total daily caloric intake on this 2 day liquid diet detox weight loss meal plan is only 528 calories.

However, you are getting 80 g of sugar, and nearly all of the calories are coming from sugar.

Eating only 528 calories two days in a row will certainly generate a caloric deficit if you follow your normal diet the rest of the week or even ease back into eating by consuming lighter foods and fewer calories when you finish your 2 day juice cleanse diet.

Bottled fruit juices.

However, this 2 day juice detox diet cannot be considered “healthy.“

It does not provide nearly enough calories—even when you are trying to lose weight fast.

Furthermore, there is no fiber at all provided in this particular 2 day juice detox diet plan, and fiber is the only nutrient that has really been shown to possibly aid the natural detoxification systems of the body by helping expedite waste excretion and digestion through feces and liver processing of toxins.

Finally, there is almost no protein in this 2 day juicing diet program for weight loss, and protein is essential for so many key biological needs and biochemical reactions, repairing muscle, and maintaining lean muscle mass, particularly when you are in a caloric deficit for losing weight.

Once you return to your normal pattern of eating solid food, you will likely regain all of the weight that you may temporarily lose on this 2 day cleanse juice diet.

We do not personally recommend the Arden Garden 2 day cleanse detox diet.

It is not safe in terms of the calories it provides, and the particular juice cleanse ingredients and nutrition facts are not helpful aside from a large amount of vitamin C, which is a key antioxidant that could help reduce oxidative damage and inflammation while supporting the immune system.

Does a 2 Day Juice Cleanse for Weight Loss Work?

While many popular commercial 2 day juice cleanses for weight loss are not much better than the Arden Garden detoxes, if you are going to buy or participate in a 2 day juicing diet cleanse, you should be looking for juices that have fiber, protein, and less sugar.

Alternatively, you can make your own juice using whole fruit and vegetables so that you are getting the fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the skin of the fruit and the pulp.

Fiber is crucial for any 2 day detox diet or any detox weight loss program you’re trying to do because it bulks up stool, feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut, and promotes bowel regularity to reduce the risk of constipation.

Fiber can also increase satiety and help you stay fuller for longer, potentially helping you consume fewer calories.

Indeed, eating enough fiber has been shown to be associated with a lower risk of obesity and may help support a lower body weight.

When making your 2 day detox drinks, emphasize vegetables over fruits to reduce the sugar and keep the detox juices low glycemic.

Consider adding protein sources such as sprouted nuts and seeds, spirulina, Greek yogurt, or even a natural protein powder.

It could be hard to juice whole vegetables, but if you are serious about doing periodic 2 day juice cleanses for weight loss or health, it is worth investing in a premium blender or a juicer so that you can actually juice the entire nutrient-dense vegetable rather than just the juicy part of the flesh of fruits.

Our pick for the absolute best blender and juicer for making nutritious weight-loss juices is the Vitamix A3500 Gourmet SmartPrep Kitchen System.

Although the upfront cost is steep, the investment for this premium blender and juicer is definitely worth it for those who want to make the healthiest weight-loss juices, detox smoothies, and protein shakes.

What’s great about it is that the motor and blades are so powerful that you can put in entire beets with the greens without even peeling them or whole pineapples with the core and peel.

The Vitamix Ascent 3500 blender liquefies them into a smooth juice, but you are still getting all of the fiber and potent antioxidants found in the skin and greens of the produce.

You can even make your own nut butters, soups, hummus, stew, and all sorts of batters and sauces for a well-balanced diet rich in vegetables.

There are also special blades that help chop and Julianne vegetables so that you can easily make salads, fresh salsa, guacamole, etc.

What Is the Best 2 Day Cleanse Diet for Weight Loss?

Again, we restate that a 2 day detox diet for weight loss doesn’t actually detox your body in any meaningful way because you already have organs and systems that do that, and aside from fiber, research has not found that particular foods really make a significant difference in detoxing your body.

However, there are benefits of doing a 2 day cleanse diet for weight loss in terms of resetting your palate, aiding a metabolic or health reset of sorts, and taking a break from processed foods, sugar, alcohol, and unhealthy fats.

Here are some tips for how to do a 2 day cleanse diet to help you reset your mindset around weight loss in food and potentially drop water weight:

  • Drink as much water as possible, but add electrolytes to avoid hyponatremia.
  • Certain foods like green tea, Matcha tea, coffee, and other sources of caffeine, along with spicy foods, may provide a slight boost to your metabolic rate. This can help you burn more calories per day, which may contribute to weight loss over time.
  • Eat foods high in soluble and insoluble fiber to promote digestion and satiety.
  • Eliminate all processed foods, added sugar, refined grains, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, fatty foods (particularly processed fatty foods in fried foods), and high-sodium foods.
  • Eat only whole, natural, unprocessed foods with a strong emphasis on vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, seeds, fresh herbs, and fruits.
  • Consider following a low-carb 2 day detox if you want to drop water weight because the body stores 3 to 4 g of water with every gram of glycogen.
  • Exercise at least 45 to 60 minutes a day and in addition, accumulate a minimum of 7000 steps per day.
  • Sleep at least 7 to 9 hours a night, per the National Sleep Foundation sleep recommendations for adults.
  • Clean out your pantry and refrigerator and get rid of trigger foods and unhealthy foods that do not support your weight loss and health goals.
  • Consider doing a digital detox at the same time and stepping away from social media.
  • Use your 2 day detox as a mental reset and recommitment to losing weight in a healthy, sustainable manner. Look into the best weight loss diet for your needs moving forward. Some healthy ideas are the Mediterranean diet, Dash diet, or intermittent fasting for weight loss.

Remember, there is no magic 2 day detox plan for weight loss that will really expedite the normal detox mechanisms that automatically take place in your body.

However, if you want to aid your kidneys and liver in their biotransformation detoxifying roles, optimizing your hydration is key.
