Christine Albury is a dedicated runner and fitness nerd and certified personal trainer: when she’s not working out she is studying the latest fitness science publications, and testing out the latest running gear!
How long have you been training?
My fitness journey began quite late in life, when I became seriously ill at 40. I’m now 53 and have been training consistently ever since, combining running with strength training, my other passion.
Other than running, what are your favorite pastimes?
I enjoy pretty much any form of exercise which is just as well, as my other favorite thing to do is cook!
I’m also an avid reader and love to travel, both throughout the UK and beyond.
Random facts about you (can include as many as you like here)
I have 5 children ranging from 14 to 30, who keep life interesting!
I lived on a tiny island in the Bahamas for 10 years, where I’d enjoy early morning runs on the beach as the sun came up.
I later moved to another coastal location – Blackpool, in the UK. But it’s quite a bit colder and wetter, so those early morning beach runs don’t have quite the same appeal haha!
Do you have any pets?
1 dog (a shih-tzu) and 3 cats. There were only meant to be 2 cats, but when I went to collect the 2nd I discovered he had a little sister who followed him everywhere. So I took her too!
What motivates you to stay active?
Lots of things – my health (and staying healthy for as long as possible for my family), those post-run ‘feel good’ hormones, better focus when I work, and the freedom to eat the foods I love!
