Harry Styles has spent much of the fall running around New York between concerts, and on Saturday, Oct. 31, he plays the 30th and final show of his Madison Square Garden residency. The next morning, tens of thousands of runners set off from Staten Island in the 2026 New York City Marathon, and it is hard to look at those two dates side by side without wondering whether he will be one of them.
We first pointed out that overlap back in January, when the Together, Together tour dates came out and the closing night in New York landed on marathon eve. Nothing has been announced since, by Styles, his team or New York Road Runners, and he has not been reported starting a marathon this year. Most of what has happened in the 10 months since has only made the idea look more realistic.

He Has Kept Running Through the Tour
On June 19, the third night of his 12-show stand at Wembley Stadium, a fan filmed Styles jogging the roughly 6 miles (10K) from his home in Hampstead to the stadium, a run we covered at the time. In New York he was photographed crossing the Williamsburg Bridge on a morning run on March 11, according to Contactmusic, and again on Aug. 24, two days before the residency opened, in pictures published by Just Jared. InsideHook had him out in Manhattan on a Friday in late September, which was also a show night, in an older pair of New Balance 1080s.
Styles explained the habit himself in a Runner’s World cover interview with Haruki Murakami in March. He said the years he spent inside hotels and venues with One Direction left him with countries he never really saw. “So when I travel now, it’s about committing to going outdoors to see some stuff, whether that’s running or walking,” he told the magazine. A course that takes in all five boroughs of the city he has been living in since August would be about as complete a version of that as he could find.

The Form and the Calendar Both Point to Sunday
His marathon record runs to only two races, and the jump between them is a big one. Styles made his debut at the Tokyo Marathon on March 2, 2025, finishing in 3:24:07, then ran 2:59:13 in Berlin that September under the name Sted Sarandos, taking just under 25 minutes off his time in six months. He went through halfway in Berlin in 1:29:08 and covered the second half in 1:30:05, an even split that points to a runner who trained properly for the distance. New York would be his third World Marathon Major.
Berlin on Sept. 27 and Chicago on Oct. 11 also fell in gaps between his New York shows this year, as we noted in January, and both came and went without him on the start line. That leaves New York as the last major of 2026 that fits his schedule, and the only one he could reach without getting on a plane. It would also leave him plenty of time to recover: after Saturday, his next concert is in Melbourne on Nov. 27, almost four weeks later. The Berlin run is a reminder, too, that his name on a public entry list, or the lack of it, would not settle much, since he raced there under a pseudonym.

Saturday’s show will run into the night, and wave 1 leaves Staten Island at 9:10 a.m., with buses from Midtown taking around 90 minutes to reach the star. That turnaround makes for a short night for anyone, and Styles would be doing it at the end of 30 arena shows in a little over two months. It is still a far smaller ask than flying to Berlin or Chicago in the middle of a residency would have been.
The professional women start at 8:35 a.m. on Sunday and the professional men at 9:05 a.m., with the mass waves following through to 11:30 a.m. Our guide to watching the race has the full TV and streaming details for anyone planning to scan the crowds of runners for a familiar face.
