On Sunday, November 2, 2025, more than 50,000 runners will take on all five boroughs of New York City for the TCS New York City Marathon. It’s not just a race, but a citywide celebration of resilience, athleticism, and community, watched by millions around the world and supported by spectators lining nearly every mile from Brooklyn to Central Park.
Whether you’re cheering from the sidewalk or watching from your couch, here’s how to be part of the 2025 NYC Marathon.

How to Watch the Marathon on TV or Online
Fans in New York, across the country, and around the world will have multiple ways to watch the race live.
Local Broadcast in New York
WABC-TV, Channel 7, will air the marathon live from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET, with pre-race coverage beginning at 7:00 a.m. The station’s website, ABC7NY.com, will also stream live footage from the “Find Your Finish” cam at the finish line starting at 10:00 a.m., continuing until the final runner crosses.
The ABC 7 New York App will offer full race streaming for viewers in the Tri-State area.
National Broadcast (U.S.)
ESPN2 will carry the live broadcast nationally from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET. Viewers with access to ESPN+ can stream pre-race and post-race coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
A Spanish-language broadcast will be available via ESPN3 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a replay on ESPN Deportes the next morning at 8:00 a.m.
Later in the day, ABC will air a special two-hour program from the finish line between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., highlighting celebrities and everyday runners completing the race.
Streaming on Mobile Devices
Race-day coverage is available through the ABC 7 New York App and the ESPN App, both of which require authentication through a participating TV provider. These apps are available in the App Store and Google Play Store.
Additionally, the official NYRR App will stream uninterrupted feeds of the four professional divisions, along with camera feeds located at the start, Miles 8, 16, and 20, and the finish line.

Radio Broadcast
Race-day coverage will air live on iHeartRadio’s 710 WOR AM and 104.3 HD2 in New York, beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET. Global listeners can tune in via the iHeartRadio app.
The broadcast team includes Olympic medalist Galen Rupp, joined by analysts Tim McLoone, Larry Mendte, and other reporters stationed across the course.
NYRR App and Runner Tracking
The NYRR App, developed by Tata Consultancy Services, is essential for fans following specific runners or planning to spectate in person. Users can track runners in real-time, view live leaderboard updates, and access camera feeds from key course locations.
The app also includes an interactive spectator guide that allows users to create custom itineraries based on the best viewing points along the course.
Where to Watch the NYC Marathon In Person
There’s nothing like watching the NYC Marathon live. The course is open to spectators from Mile 3 through the finish, with excellent spots scattered throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx.
Spectators are encouraged to use public transportation and check mta.info before traveling.

Best Viewing Locations by Borough
Brooklyn
- Miles 2–4 (Fourth Avenue): Runners exit the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and head through Bay Ridge and Park Slope. Subway: R
- Mile 8 (Fourth Avenue & Flatbush): Near Barclays Center, with access to multiple train lines. Subway: B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, 5
- Miles 10–13 (Williamsburg & Greenpoint): Lively neighborhood energy with great cafés and signage-friendly sidewalks. Subway: G, L, M, J
Queens
- Mile 13.1 (Pulaski Bridge Exit): You can’t stand on the bridge, but fans often line up just past it in Queens. Subway: 7, G, E
Manhattan
- Miles 16–18 (First Avenue): A crowd favorite with high energy, loud cheers, and neighborhood bars. Subway: N, Q, R, 4, 5, 6, F
- Miles 18–20 (East Harlem): A passionate and culturally rich stretch. Subway: 6
- Mile 19 (Charity Cheer Zone at 120th Street): Celebrate the thousands of runners fundraising for charity. Subway: 6
Central Park and Finish Area
- Miles 23–24 (Fifth Ave from E 90th to 105th): A pivotal late-race stretch through Museum Mile. Subway: Q, 4, 5, 6
- Mile 26 (Columbus Circle and Central Park South): The final push before the finish line. Subway: A, C, D, 1
Finish Line Access
- Grandstand Seating: Requires advance ticket purchase. Enter at West 62nd Street and Broadway.
- Standing Spectator Zone: Free access along Central Park South, up to the grandstands. Entry at Broadway and West 61st or from the east side via Heckscher Fields. All entrances are screened, and access may be limited due to crowd size.
There is no spectator access north of the grandstands or on any of the bridges along the course.

Spectator Etiquette and Safety
- Stay behind barricades and out of the street.
- Don’t block building entrances or crowd sidewalks.
- Leave the amp at home—loudspeakers and music systems are not allowed.
- Portable toilets are for runners only.
- Report suspicious activity to law enforcement or call 866.705.6626.
- Drones are illegal in NYC and banned on race day.
New for 2025: Final Finishers Documentary
The New York Road Runners will debut their first-ever documentary, “Final Finishers,” on ESPN+ and ABC7NY.com beginning Saturday, November 1. The 30-minute film, co-produced with Tribeca Studios, highlights runners who cross the finish line well after the winners, celebrating grit and community.
A preview will air during the ABC national broadcast from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. ET on race day.
