Registration For The 2025 Boston Marathon Opens September 9

The race is slated for April 21, 2025...will you manage to get a spot on the start line?

Registration for the 129th Boston Marathon, presented by Bank of America, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) begins tomorrow, September 9 and will run for five days, closing on September 13. The historic race will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, and will feature a field of around 30,000 runners.

Athletes who have met the Boston Marathon qualifying times can submit their registration starting Monday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. ET. The window closes on Friday, September 13, at 5:00 p.m. ET. The registration process follows the same structure as in recent years (2021–2024), allowing any qualifying athlete to apply during the registration period.

All registration will be conducted through the B.A.A.’s online portal, Athletes’ Village. It’s important to note that submission timing does not influence acceptance; applications are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on September 13 will be considered equally.

The qualifying window for the 2025 race started on September 1, 2023, and will remain open until 5:00 p.m. ET on September 13, 2024. Qualifying standards are available here, and while meeting these times is a requirement, it does not guarantee entry. Accepted runners will be selected based on the fastest times within their age and gender groups.

The entry fee for accepted runners will be $250 USD. At registration, participants will also have the option to purchase registration insurance. Payment will only be processed for those accepted into the race.
