76-year-old Jeannie Rice strikes again.
Despite her age, the Ohio native continues to outdo herself with every marathon.
Rice most recently scorched the 2024 London Marathon, finishing in 3:33:27 (8:08 min/mile, if you’re wondering).
A marathon at that speed is already an impressive feat, let alone at her age. What makes it even more impressive is that she broke her previous world record for her 75-79 age group. Her previous record was set in October at the 2023 Chicago Marathon when she ran 3:34:32.
Last year, Rice ran 3:33:15 at the 2023 Boston Marathon; however, the Boston course is not record-eligible.
Speaking to Runner’s World, Rice said she was only “somewhat” happy with her performance in London. She said she was hoping to be closer to 3:30 and was on track, running consistent splits before falling off in the final two miles.
“I’ll have to figure it out and run better in Berlin,” she said.
