Day 3 of the 2026 European Athletics Championships added three track titles at Alexander Stadium on August 12. Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith, the European record holder, took the men’s 400m in 44.17, holding off France’s Muhammad Abdallah Kounta and the Netherlands’ Jonas Phijffers, who were split by a hundredth for the minor medals. Slovakia’s Emma Zapletalová won the women’s 400m hurdles in 52.91, comfortably clear of Britain’s Emily Newnham, and Switzerland’s Jason Joseph edged a tight men’s 110m hurdles in 13.12 from France’s Just Kwaou-Mathey.
