Day 5 of the 2026 European Athletics Championships delivered four track titles and a couple of standout stories at Alexander Stadium on August 14. Italy’s Nadia Battocletti won the women’s 10,000m in 31:41.17 to complete the distance double, having already taken the 5000m earlier in the week. Karsten Warholm was in a class of his own in the men’s 400m hurdles, winning in 46.63, and Germany’s Owen Ansah backed up his 100m bronze with 200m gold in 19.95. The night’s biggest upset came in the women’s 800m, where Switzerland’s Audrey Werro ran 1:54.81 to beat world record holder Keely Hodgkinson.
