The 2026 European Athletics Championships closed on August 16 with the two marathons in the morning and a loaded evening on the track at Alexander Stadium. Germany’s Amanal Petros, so often the runner-up, finally won a major marathon title in 2:09:11, and Finland’s Alisa Vainio delivered on her billing as the favorite in the women’s race, winning in 2:22:26. On the track, Georgia Hunter Bell added 1500m gold to a big British week, Germany’s Frederik Ruppert took the steeplechase, and the relays produced a fittingly tight finish, with Italy edging Great Britain by three-hundredths of a second in the men’s 4x400m.
Below are the full finishing orders for both marathons and each of the final day’s track finals. Field events, the combined events, and para events are not included.
