Why it matters

The Mind 001 isn’t just another lifestyle slip-on—it marks Nike’s push into the recovery footwear space, targeting athletes’ downtime with a design that blends post-performance function and progressive styling.

What’s happening

Set to debut in October 2025, the Nike Mind 001 arrives in a sculpted “Light Smoke Grey” colorway with Photon Dust, Hyper Crimson and Chrome accents. The slip-on design features a molded upper with perforation for breathability, paired with ripple-edged midsoles and vibrant orange outsole pods designed to assist post-run recovery.

Subtle branding includes a small embroidered Swoosh on the toe and a chrome version on the lateral side. The sneakers are packaged in a custom “Nike Mind Science Department” box, underlining the conceptual theme behind the release.

The model will retail for $90 through Nike.com and select retailers this fall, with a broader rollout expected in spring 2026 at a higher $120 price point.

The bigger picture

The Mind 001 follows other Nike experiments in hybrid performance-lifestyle footwear, including the Calm Slide and ISPA line. But while those products emphasized modularity or relaxation, the Mind 001 is more focused: it’s designed specifically for recovery.

Recovery shoes have become a growing segment, with competitors like Oofos and Adidas pushing ergonomically designed slides meant to reduce fatigue and ease muscle strain after workouts. Nike’s latest drop appears to be its most direct move into that market.
