Ethan Strand won the men’s 1500m at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday in 3:30.77, beating Olympic champion Cole Hocker and pushing Jakob Ingebrigtsen to fourth in the Norwegian’s first Diamond League race since September 2024.

Strand went from a long way out and nobody came back to him. Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech took second in 3:31.14 and Hocker was third in 3:31.16, with Ingebrigtsen a hundredth of a second behind in 3:31.19 on a night when he never led. He had spent nearly two years rebuilding from surgery and moved his return up four days to race here, and fourth in a field that fast is a reasonable place to restart.

Silesia was the 13th of 15 stops on the Wanda Diamond League calendar, and it delivered more than the program promised. Zurich follows on Aug. 27, where Keely Hodgkinson meets Audrey Werro over 800m, and the season ends with the two-day final in Brussels on Sept. 4 and 5.
