Amos Kipruto and Hawi Feysa won the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, and both of them did it in a time that only a world record holder has beaten on this course.
Kipruto, third here in 2024 and second last year, broke away from defending champion Jacob Kiplimo after 30K and won in 2:01:09, almost two minutes clear of Ethiopia’s Tadese Takele. Feysa ran side by side with Sharon Lokedi until 40K, then pulled 34 seconds clear over the final 2.2K to defend her title in 2:13:33, a personal best. Clayton Young and Emma Grace Hurley, on her marathon debut, were the top Americans, both in seventh.
