Ciele Adds Seven Marathon Cities to Its GOCap Collection

Ciele Athletics has expanded its World Wide Movement cap collection to 14 cities, adding Sydney, Chamonix, Chicago, Berlin, Montreal, Toronto and New York City to a line of $60 running caps that the Montreal company builds around each city’s racing season.

The seven caps went on sale on Ciele’s own site on July 16, according to its product listings, joining seven cities released on Jan. 14: Boston, London, Paris, Miami, Los Angeles, Austin and Vancouver. The two waves track the racing calendar. Every city in the January group holds its flagship marathon in the first half of the year. The July group holds its races in the second half: the Berlin Marathon on Sept. 27, the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 11, Toronto’s marathon on Oct. 18 and the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1. Two of the seven have already raced. Sydney ran on Aug. 30, and Chamonix, a trail hub rather than a road racing city, held UTMB on Aug. 28.

Each cap is a GOCap SC Comp, sold in one M/L size listed at 58 cm. The body is FLEXweave woven fabric in recycled polyester, with COOLmatic PLUS MIKRAmesh panels on the crown, sides and headband, a quick-adjust closure at the back, a pre-curved brim and reflective detailing. Ciele lists the materials as bluesign approved and certified to the Global Recycle Standard. The company is a certified B Corporation with its flagship space in Montreal, and it has sold the GOCap in one form or another for years.

Every listing carries the same description, written in the brand’s lowercase house style: “these caps continue our tradition of creating keepsakes for the world’s best loved marathon cities. whether you’re sub 3 or just happy to be there, these WWM caps remind us of the effort it took to get there.” An ORTShirt in the same collection sells for $60, and the caps are listed on Ciele’s regional sites for Canada, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand.

Six of the eight World Marathon Majors have a cap in the collection. Tokyo and Cape Town do not have one. Cape Town became the eighth race in the series when series sponsor Abbott announced the promotion on June 10, five weeks before the seven new cities went on sale, and it is the first African race to join. The 14 cities Ciele has chosen are in Canada, the United States, Western Europe and Australia. Shanghai, which passed the first stage of its candidacy in 2025, faces its second evaluation on Dec. 6 and would take the series to nine.

The caps carry city names, and none of the listings names a marathon, which keeps the line clear of race licensing. A runner can buy the Berlin cap without a Berlin bib, and without entering a ballot for any of the eight. New York City, the last of the seven new cities to hold its race, runs on Nov. 1.
