The 2026 UTMB Lottery Is Now Open 1

The lottery for the 2026 UTMB Mont-Blanc races opened today, marking the start of another high-demand entry cycle for the world’s most sought-after trail event.

Pre-registration for the UTMB, CCC, OCC, MCC, and ETC lotteries runs from January 8 until 23:59 (CET) on January 19, 2026, through each runner’s MyUTMB account. Race entries are still determined by the Running Stones lottery system, where more Stones equals more chances in the draw. A valid UTMB Index and at least one active Running Stone are required for UTMB, CCC, and OCC entries.

This year’s lottery opens under new rules that will take effect for the 2026 edition.

For the first time, runners can opt into UTMB’s responsible mobility commitment during pre-registration. Those who do, and who agree to travel to the Mont-Blanc valleys using lower-carbon, car-free transport, will receive a 30% boost in their lottery odds.

The boost applies only if runners follow the transport rules set out by UTMB, which vary depending on where they are travelling from.

Selected runners will be required to submit proof of residence and travel after the draw. Failure to comply will result in the cancellation of the entry, without a refund, though Running Stones will be returned.

UTMB says the change is aimed at reducing the event’s environmental impact, noting that runner travel accounts for nearly 86% of its total carbon footprint.

Alongside the lottery update, all runners selected for the 2026 event will also be required to pay a carbon contribution based on the emissions from their round-trip travel to the race.

The lottery results are scheduled to be announced at 11:00 CET on January 22, 2026. Selected runners will then have until February 4, 2026 to confirm their entries, after which waiting-list runners may be offered remaining spots.
